A naming convention is part of measurement infrastructure. When every platform, agency and market labels campaigns differently, analysts spend time repairing categories and teams lose confidence in comparisons.
Name from stable to specific
A practical sequence is market, objective, product or audience, channel, placement and period. Keep values controlled and document permitted abbreviations. Do not encode information already provided reliably by the platform.
Design for handovers
Someone unfamiliar with the campaign should be able to interpret its name. Maintain a short data dictionary, an owner and a change log. Validate new campaign names before launch where your workflow allows it.
Preserve source labels
Store the raw platform value alongside the normalised category. This makes corrections auditable and avoids rewriting history when the taxonomy changes.
